Matchweek 2 is in the books as fans lined up around the corner for the Nick Wydro and Brian Bartosik honorary Bobble-head night. There was top flight futsal played from all teams, with Buffalo Blizzard remaining undefeated, buffalofutsal falling to the newly formed District 5, and BSC International turning the tables on last week’s dire performance by trouncing a depleted WNY Futbolists.
Buffalo Blizzard FC 12 – BNCC 9
Buffalo Blizzard FC (2-0-0) faced their biggest test of the young buffalofutsal season in home town favorites BNCC Futsal (1-1-0). BNCC fought tooth and nail throughout the first half, forcing a 6-6 draw at half time, but could not keep the pressure on as the Blizzard cooled down the BNCC attack, winning by a 12-9 score.
David Sachenik, a late signing from Buffalo Blizzard FC, netted 4 goals and one assist on the night, whie John Taggart scored a hat trick of his own for the Blizzard. Official team spokesman Brian Bartosik scored the opening two goals of the match.
Tough play from BNCC kept the game close for a majority of the match. Christian Codjovi and Martial Codjovi were tough in defense, while Nate Griffiths continued his run of taking the most shots ever in a buffalofutsal match, scoring two in the process. BNCC played a physical style of futsal, which stifled the smooth, finnese style of the Blizzard.
The second half saw a rejuvinated Blizzard side come out and John Taggart struck first, giving the Blizzard the 7-6 lead. Martial Codjovi equaled to make it 7-7 soon after. Dave Sachenik took control, netting three unanswered goals to give the Blizzard the 10-7 lead, which they would not relinquish.
Rumor mill: BNCC have apparently freed up some cash and look to make a splash during the transfer window, while Buffalo Blizzard FC plea to the buffalofutsal front office to have next week’s match up with District 5 moved to 6:30 in the ‘prime time’ slot.

buffalofutsal 10 – District 5 11
Newcomers District 5 used a lot of skill and a little bit of beginners luck to defeat buffalofutsal 11-10 at the 7:30pm match.
Casey Smith was dynamite between the pipes for District 5, who fielded a team who were completely new to the game of futsal. However, it was District 5 who struck first and often, putting buffalofutsal back on their heels for most of the match.
Buffalofutsal was led by dual 4 goal performances from Chris Back and Ryan Knapp, with Andrey Derkach and Demian Lessa adding the other two goals while Misty Fallon added a spark off the bench . District 5 was led by Grabiec with 5 goals and hat tricks from Hall and Powers.
District 5 struck home the first three goals of the match, taking an early 3-0 lead. buffalofutsal crawled back into the match, but found themselves down at half time.
In the second half, it was more from District 5 as they poured on the pressure and hammered away against a tired buffalofutsal squad, pumping in goals and taking a commanding 3 goal lead midway through the second half.
Buffalofutsal fought late into the match and tied the game at 10-10 with 1:30 remaining. The tie was to be shortlived as a slick District 5 passing spell scored an easy tap-in for the newcomers and gave D5 the 11-10 win.

BSC International 14 – WNY Futbolist 5
BSC International bounced back from a terrible opening game by trouncing WNY Futbolist 14-5 during the 8:30pm match. There would be no stopping the team in white as they pumped home 6 unanswered goals in the first half to take a commanding lead, which they would maintain for the duration.
WNY Futbolist, who were missing several of their key players from the week before, were never able to get on the same page, as they fielded some players just before the start of the match. BSC International were joined by Ryan Wolfrom, who just celebrated his 42nd birthday earlier in the week.
BSC’s scoring was evenly distributed through the team, as every player on the pitch netted a goal, minus GK Nick Wydro. Miro Rakic lead BSC with 4 goals, with Mark Valites and the birthday boy himself Wolfrom scoring a hat trick a piece.
WNY Futbolists were led by Andy Smith with 2 goals and Chris Hughes with one goal. Last minute pickups had two of the other tallies on the night, giving WNY 5 goals on the match.
BSC played a physical style of play, with Rakic controlling the ball upfront and down the wings and laying off quality balls to his teammates. N. Wydro did not have much to contend with in net as his defense made it a fairly easy night for the BSC keeper.
WNY Futbolist keeper Jake Szopinski made some quality saves that could have made the score line much worse, while his defense was not much help.
Match Stats
BSC International (1-1-0): Nick Wydro; Mark Valites, Marc Petryk, Miroslav Rakic, Ryan Wolfrom, Evan Wydro, Nick Wydro, Rich Tylec
Goals: Valites (3G) Petryk (1G), Rakic (4G), Wolfram (3G), Wydro (2G), Tylec (1G)

Thanks to Buffalo Futsal for taking the time to write post game recaps, record stats, and take the time to make highlight videos. These things add a new element to the league, and make it very exciting. Just wanted to give you guys props for all of the effort.
Although I would love more than anything to take a win, we do not, yet, have a win.
